If you read ANY posts on ModernFamilyParenting.com this is the one! Is your baby not sleeping 12 hours after they are 12 weeks old? I have a fix that will change your life. I was gifted a book titled Twelve Hours’ Sleep by Twelve Weeks Old: A Step-By-Step Plan for Baby Sleep Success and it changed our world when our little one was about 14 weeks old.
I am not getting paid to endorse this book. It just changed everything once we read it! The science in this book is simple. Feed your child strategically and all will fall into place. While we read this book, we had to ensure we were giving the right amounts of formula per feeding and slowly increasing the ounces and lessening the amount of bottles. We got to the point where we only needed to feed during the day and she was full enough at night to sleep.
The hardest part was letting her cry it out for a night or two. Babies wake up because they’re hungry but then get used to eating at night. Even though she had enough formula for the day, she would wake up the next few nights and we had to teach her that we do not eat at night. By learning this lesson, when she wakes up at night she sings herself back to sleep.
I do not know about you, but the first night we were able to sleep 9-10 hours in a row changed our lives. We felt refreshed and ready to parent. We feel for all of you with newborns and know the work you are putting in. Just know, it gets easier!
